5-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Pulled From Pool at Yorktown Home

Adea Morina was on life support at the Westchester Medical Center. She passed away on Sunday, July 8.

The 5-year-old girl from the Bronx, who on Friday, passed away on Sunday at the Westchester Medical Center, where she was taken off life support,  said. 

Police identified the little girl as Adea Morina, who was visiting relatives for a party at the Yorktown home on Rustic Ridge Court. There were nine other children and one adult in the pool area when Adea apparently went into the pool unnoticed, police said. 

When she was seen floating under the water, she was pulled out of the pool and a police officer started performing CPR when he arrived at the home, officials said. He regained her pulse and the little girl's heart began beating. Two members of the  and two Empress Yorktown paramedics also arrived at the home and continued to perform advanced life support measures.

The child was taken to the Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt where she was revived. She was then transported to the Westchester Medical Center and put on life support. 

Adea passed away on Sunday, July 8.

The Yorktown Police Department, along with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office and the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office are conducting the investigating, Lt. Richard Malan said in a press release today. It does not appear that any foul play was involved, police said. 

The Westchester Medical Examiner will determine the cause of the child's death. Police are continuing the investigating as they await the results.
