Chappaqua Man Charged With Drug Possession, DWI in Bedford

A Chappaqua man faces five separate charges—including drinking and driving and criminal possession of drugs—after a late night stop in the parking lot of the Katonah A &P shopping plaza at 128 Bedford Road.
Bedford police said they say Dylan St. John, 20, finish a can of beer, walk to his 2005 Jetta, set the can down outside the car and get behind the wheel.
Officers waited a few minutes, then approached the car, just after midnight. Officers said they detected a smell of alcohol and possibly marijuana from the car. After being interviewed, St. John admitted that he was in possession of cocaine, and he turned over a small envelope of a white powdery substance he had in his wallet.

Police administered field sobriety tests, which St. John failed. He was arrested and brought to headquarters for processsing. He took a breath test which revealed a .10 BAC. A Bedford police drug recognition expert interviewed St. John and determined drugs to be in his system. St. John was asked to submit to a urine test.
St. John was charged with DWI combination alcohol and drugs, consumption of alcoholic beverages in a car, using another drivers' license, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance—a misdemeanor and DWI over .08 BAC.

He was released on $300 bail and is scheduled to appear back in Bedford town court.
