DA Alleges Teacher Stole Student Club Money

A Tuckahoe teacher was charged with larceny today after the Westchester County District Attorney's office accused her of stealing $26,295 from student organizations.

Dorothy Lepore, 42,  of 19 General MacArthur Drive, Carmel, NY was arraigned on a Felony Complaint charging her with one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class “D” Felony.

According to the DA, between May 1 and Dec. 31, 2013, Lepore, a math teacher at Tuckahoe High School and the treasurer for the Tuckahoe Middle School and High School student government organizations “G.O.” account, took money raised at various fund raising events and failed to deposit any of it in the appropriate bank accounts.

She then used the stolen money for her own purposes—which the DA did not specify.

A joint investigation by detectives from the Eastchester Police Department and investigators from the District Attorney's office resulted in the defendant surrendering to the Eastchester Police Department this morning.
The investigation into the theft is ongoing, officials said.

The defendant was released without bail. Her next court date is April 2. She faces a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison.

Assistant District Attorney Brian Conway, Deputy Chief of the Public Integrity Bureau is prosecuting the case.
