Pound Ridge Woman Charged With DWI

Sonia Beatriz Cabrera-Cordone, 41, was arrested after allegedly driving drunk on Route 121 in Bedford.

Bedford police officers on patrol observed her 1994 Audi allegedly crossing the yellow double lines several times near the intersection of Old Post Road at 3:26 a.m. on Sept. 2.

After stopping her, police said they noticed a strong smell of alcohol in her car. They also noticed Cabrera-Cordone had red, glassy eyes. Police said she told them, "I'm not going to lie, I've been drinking," admitting she had consumed alcoholic beverages.

She failed field sobriety tests and took a data master test which revealed she had a .15 BAC. Cabrera-Cordone was charged with DWI, DWI over .08 BAC and passing in a no-pass zone. She was released without bail pending a future court appearance.

Police make driving arrests

Police arrested a pair of drivers this week for license and registration issues.

Daniyal Tariq, 20, of the Bronx, was driving a car tagged by the license plate reader on Aug. 31. He was found to have an active suspension and was charged with driving a car with a suspended registration. He was released on $100 bail pending a court appearance.

Blanca Toapante, 45, of Bedford Hills, was arrested on Sept. 1 and charged with failing to stop at a stop sign, and operating a car without a license. She was stopped at Babbit Road near Depot Plaza at 1:25 a.m. She told police her license was expired but a computer check revealed she was an unlicensed driver. She was released without bail pending a return to town court.
