Home in Vista Fire District Declared a 'total loss'

A house located in the Vista Fire District was declared to be a "total loss" according to a press release on behalf of the Vista Fire Department.

Firefighters from Vista and South Salem were dispatched around 8:05 p.m. on Saturday evening and arrived to 222 Kitchawan Road, the fire department announced. Initial reports were of a fire going through the roof, the press release states.

The structure, described in the fire department's press release as "a 2½ story wood frame contemporary style house" was declared to be "fully involved."

Although there were occupants in the home, they and their dog got out safety, according to the fire department's announcement, which adds that the cause has not been determined.

Other responders, according to the press release, included the fire departments from Bedford Hills, Goldens Bridge, Pound Ridge, New Canaan and Ridgefield. About 45 to 50 firefighters came to the scene, the press release states. It adds that the last firefighters left around 12 a.m. It also notes that tankers and a pond were used for water.
