Ali told police, that "two black males entered the store, one of them displayed a knife and they took approximately $1,300 in cash. Both males then got into a dark sedan and fled westbound on Bedford Road," according to a statement from the department.

"A preliminary search for the vehicle and suspects in question was performed by numerous departments, resulting with negative results. The Pleasantville Detective Division was notified and continued the investigation," the department said.

When interviewed by Patch this morning, Ali said the men pushed him while he was standing at the store's cash register.

"Through exceptional police work and cooperation with our business community, Detectives were able to quickly determine that this entire incident was fabricated," police said. "As a result, the above listed suspect was arrested and charged. He will be arraigned by Pleasantville Justice John Curley. Results from the arraignment will be available at a later time."
