Man Accused of Speeding, Hitting Cop Vehicle & DWI

A pursuit happened on Interstate 684 from Bedford to Southeast, state police claim.

A 36-year-old Danbury man is accused by state police of speeding on Interstate 684, being pursued from Bedford to Southeast and then striking a police vehicle before being arrested.

State police allege that the man was discovered to be driving at more than 90 miles per hour and pursued. The man allegedly then hit a police vehicle with his vehicle. Police claim that the man tried to continue driving but could not due to damage that his vehicle sustained. The man had "minor" injuries, police said.

The man was arrested on Jan. 15 at around 11:05 p.m. and charged with reckless driving, third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer and driving while intoxicated (DWI). All of the charges are misdemeanors and the man was slated to appear in Bedford's local court on Jan. 16.
