Man Charged With Leaving Scene of Accident on Yom Kippur

The following information was provided by the Bedford police department and does not indicate a conviction.

Bedford police charged Mark Brande, 45, of Amawalk, with leaving the scene of an auto accident with injuries after Brande allegedly struck a Caramoor parking attendant in the knee and leg with his car following Oct. 8 Yom Kippur services held at the arts center.

Witnesses told police that a parking attendant directed Brande not to park his car where it would block traffic. After a discussion between the driver and the attendant, Brande allegedly proceeded forward with his car and hit the attendant.

The parking attendant was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for observation. With witness testimony police were able to locate Brande and arrested him later that morning. He was released without bail pending a court appearance in Bedford Town Court.

 

Alleged shoe thieves caught

Two women arrested in Mt. Kisco last week were brought to the town of Bedford and arraigned on larceny charges.

Police said Soukynia Horne, 26 and Shae Scatliffe, 24, both New York City residents, were arrested in Mt. Kisco on Oct. 3 for multiple larcenies. A Mt. Kisco police sergeant contacted the Bedford police department to say the women matched a witness description of the pair who allegedly stole $800 in shoes from the on Sept. 26.

Bedford police processed the women for an appearance in Bedford Town Court. Judge Jacobsen released them on $1,500 bail pending their next court appearance.

PA man charged with second-degree harassment

Brian O’Malley, 32, of Ardmore, PA, was arrested by Bedford police and charged with harassing a family member. O'Malley's brother, a Bedford resident, reported that he received threatening voicemails and text messages from him. Police subsequently issued a warrant for O'Malley's arrest after which O'Malley drove from PA to Bedford to face the aggravated harassment charges. He was released on $500 bail pending a town court appearance. 

Pound Ridge man charged with speeding

Matthew Callow, 22, of Pound Ridge, was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on Harris Road. Callow was allegedly driving 40 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone and a computer check revealed he was also driving with a suspended license. He was issued traffice tickets and released on $100 bail pending an appearance in town court.

The Board of Education believes its primaryRead More responsibility should focus on creating an educational environment that will help our students become knowledgeable individuals, problem-solvers, quality producers, effective communicators, wholesome individuals, collaborative workers, ethical individuals, life-long learners, and responsible, accepting and involved citizens. We remain committed to providing a high quality, well-balanced educational program that supports our faculty and staff and helps our students meet and exceed State standards as well as high district goals. It says nothing about protecting the investments of taxpayers by voting "no" on every expenditure. We need forward thinking, broad minded individuals to help guide educational direction of our schools. Keeping expenses reasonable and and in check should be a consideration by the educational focus should be primary. Although novices, Trustees Tobin and Schiff have helped true the course of the board back to the direction of education. Mr Stone who himself admitted he had never even been to a BOE meeting before deciding to run offers no sense of motivation other than Dr Treyz and his friends think he'll help shift the direction back toward finance. Mr Holbrook is no different a candidate than Mr Lipton himself was 6 years ago.
