Police: Man Surrenders After Barricading in McLain St. Home

A man who barricaded himself in a McLain Street home on Friday morning surrendered peacefully, Bedford Police Lt. Jeffery Dickan confirmed.

The alleged incident, in which the man is accused of refusing to leave the home after he been staying here, occurred at around 8:57 a.m. The man, 42, is then accused of barricading himself in a bedroom. A resident of the home reported the matter to police.

Westchester County Police and a negotiator provided assistance to Bedford Police. The man surrendered at around 11:30 a.m. He was taken into what is called protective custody and brought to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco.

The public was not in danger, Dickan, who confirmed media reports from today, said. He does not expect the man to be criminally charged.
