Police Arrest Man Found Sleeping in Car

A 25-year-old man from New Fairfield, CT was arrested on July 5 after Bedford police found him lying down in the front seat of his car parked on Croton Lake Road in Bedford Hills.

Police officers out on patrol at approximately 10 p.m. first noticed his car when they saw the interior lights were on, but could not see the driver. They approached the car and found the man, and a glass pipe and glass jar with what appeared to be marijuana in plain view inside the car.

The man, who allegedly had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, admitted to being the car's driver, police claimed. He failed field sobriety tests and refused a breath test, police alleged. A license check revealed four previous suspensions. Police charged him with DWI, unlawful possession of marijuana, aggravated first-degree unlicensed operation of a car/under the influence and refusing a pre-screen test. He was released on $200 bail pending an appearance in the town of Bedford court.
