Tarrytown Police: Bloody MTA, Temple Robbery

A summary of incidents in Tarrytown from July 12 to July 19, 2012

Temple Robbery

A caller reported at 9:30 a.m. on July 12 a suspicious person with a backpack walking around the area of the and asking for the rabbi. Officers dispatched found the man at Broadway and Main Street with stolen items from the temple. Gregory Ketter, 48, of Yonkers, was arrested and charged with three separate counts of burglary.

Police Chief Scott Brown said $140 was stolen from an employee's purse, an undermined amount taken from a jar containing cash, and $85 taken from a jar containing cash in the building. 

 

More Mulch

It's been an active summer for mulch fires. On the morning of July 13, a taxi driver reported a small mulch fire in the resident lot by the taxi stand across from the train station. Fire Department responded and extinguished. That afternoon, another minor mulch fire was extinguished at the intersection of Main and Depot Plaza.

 

Bloody Station

County Fire Control requested an ambulance at the train station on the evening of July 13 for a person urinating blood. The Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the person to . Officer reported there was a large amount of blood on the floor of the train station bathroom. MTA was notified and would have a unit respond.

 

Underage Possession of Alcohol

The Greenburgh Task Force reported locating several students attempting to enter a limousine with alcohol in their possession near the skate shake on Neperan Road. Officer charged and released defendants with possession of alcohol under 21 with intent to consume, returnable to court on July 26.

 

Stone Walled

On July 15 at 1:51 a.m., a car accident was reported in front of 200 South Broadway. The police sergeant requested the fire department to stabilize a vehicle left resting on its side on a stone wall. Car was towed. Con Edison was contacted about a pole hit. Ambulance transported two passengers to Westchester Medical Center, while the driver and another passenger refused medical attention at the scene. The Westchester County Bee-Line Bus shelter and a metal garbage can were also damaged in the accident.

 

Nicked by Knicks

A motorist called on July 16 at 2:54 p.m. to report she was just involved in a car accident at Tower Hill Road near the intersection of Neperan with a tractor trailer that continued to travel east on Neperan and stopped at 117 Old Saw Mill River Road, the practice facility for the NY Rangers/Knicks. Officers filed accident report.

 

Palisades Bust

A caller reported on July 17 at 10:58 p.m. that while she was at the Palisades Mall she observed an individual who she believed was going to rob a store. She had reported the incident there to security and the Clarkstown Police. But on the bus ride home she felt someone was following her home related to the incident. She just wanted this noted for the record.
