Bedford Police: Boston Man Found with Ketamine, Ecstasy & Xanax

A Boston man is accused of possessing several drugs when he was stopped by a Bedford police officer on Route 35.

Police said that the traffic stop took place on July 15 at around 9 p.m. and near Interstate 684. The stop was made because the officer thought that the driver of vehicle was observed talking on his cell phone.

Police then state that the officer approached the vehicle and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Police claim that the driver "was observed to have glassy eyes, impaired speech and appeared to be extremely confused." Additionally, police allege that the man appeared to have residue on his left nostril that was white and powdery.

Police said that the driver, 39-year-old Jeffrey Mainelli, then failed field sobriety tests. Police also said that a small brown vial with white powder was seen in a cup holder. Mainelli was asked what the substance was, police allege, and replied that it was Ketamine. A search of his vehicle was subsequently done, and police claim that more drugs were found.

Mainelli is accused of possessing 207.5 grams of Ketamine, two ecstasy pills, 10 Xanax pills and 17 grams of an "hallucinogenlc substance." Police also stated that $6,800 in cash was found.

Mainelli is charged with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all of which are felonies. Mainelli is also charged with driving while ability impaired - drugs, which is a misdemeanor, and three traffic infractions: operating a motor vehicle on a public highway while using a cell phone, refusing a pre-screening test and consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.

Mainelli was subsequently remanded to the Westchester County jail in Valhalla and his next court date is July 25 at 7 p.m.
