Thursday's North Castle house fire that engulfed the left side of the building was accidental, North Castle Police said in a press release.

Police also stated that a woman, one of the residents of the home at 7 Rustling Lane, called 911 to report a car in the garage being on fire. The blaze spread to the house itself while responders to traveling to the scene, police said.

The fire was reported to 911 shortly after 4 p.m., according to police. All occupants of the home are safe.

Banksville Fire Chief Al Farquhar also said that the fire was determined to be accidental, having started as a car fire that spread to the garage and the house.

The blaze, which happened in Banksville's fire district, resulted in mutual aid from several neighboring fire departments and took about one hour to an hour and 15 minutes to knock down, Farquhar told the press Thursday evening. Firefighters providing mutual aid came from Bedford, Armonk, Bedford Hills, Katonah, Mount Kisco, Chappaqua, Pound Ridge and Greenwich. The left side of the home appeared to be gutted. Meanwhile, the right side sustained smoke and water damage, Farquhar told reporters.
