[VIDEO] Teens Charged In Rye Hazing Appear in Court

Not guilty pleas entered; court issues orders of protection for witness.

Sean Hinson and Tristan Scragg, both 17, and Max Meyerson, age 16, appeared in Rye City Court this morning to answer to several charges of felony assault, hazing and unlawful imprisonment stemming from a June 1 incident where two were allegedly beaten with a paddle after being taken by car from Rye Free Reading Room to Marshlands Conservancy park.

This morning's hearing did not address the felony charges of assault and unlawful imprisonment which will be taken up in Westchester County Court on a separate date.

Attorneys for each of the defendants entered not guilty pleas for the misdemeanor charges and all three young men acknowledged receipt of orders of protection issued by the court for an unnamed witness.

The City of Rye is doing the right thing and bringing this to court. NO EXCUSES ; NO MORE BULLYING PERIOD. And any of you dumb a$$es out there who think this is OK or these Bullies are misunderstood ; then let it happen to your child or grandchild and tell me what you think. They wouldn't be in court if there wasn't a case. The City of Rye will get past this......................

It doesn't matter where they live, what their parents do, how much money they have or don't have or who they are. What matters is that children have been hurt & abused for a long time now. What matters is that the Rye Schools have been closing their eyes to this on going problem. It is a fact that children are afraid to go to school on "freshman Friday"...that speaks volume ! This needs to stop, right now. Those kids should be prosecuted for assault...because that is exactly what it was and will continue to be... if Rye does not put an end to this now. If their college future is at stake, it is no one;s fault but their own. This is a bad way to start out their adult life...thinking they can do what ever they want. They are bullies & should be stopped & punished ! In time they can get their life back on track & become compassionate & law abiding adults. Do the right thing City of Rye & protect all your towns children !

The alleged "victims" were walking around fine the day of the incident and even bragging to their friends that they got paddled. The media is blowing their injuries way out proportion.

Maybe someone can explain to me how you charge teenagers as adults with Felonies charges as you close your eyes to a Mayor that has cheated the community out of thousands of dollars in school taxes? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6nWzVM99R8
