Troopers Find Heroin During Traffic Stop in Bedford

State Police provided the following information. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 62-year-old Southeast man was carrying eight "small, wax envelopes of heroin" while traveling on Interstate 684 earlier this week, according to New York State Police.

Troopers from the Somers barracks say they stopped Stephen F. Webber at about 12:10 p.m. Monday in the Town of Bedford. He reportedly failed to maintain his lane and drove on the shoulder of the roadway.

Officials determined that Webber was in an impaired state, and in possession of drugs, according to reports. He's facing two misdemeanor charges: driving while ability impaired by drugs and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
