Unusual Suspects: Laced Candy; Sleepy Intruder; Golden Glove Street Fight

Recent weird and unusual crime in the Hudson Valley.

Bedford residents awoke to find a City Island man sleeping in their home. Samuel Fisher, 22, is thought to have entered the home during the night through an unlocked sliding glass door in the kitchen. The man appeared to be intoxicated, according to police, and unaware of his surroundings. 

Carmel resident John F. Stam III was arrested after an undercover official was tipped off about Stam allegedly selling chocolate bars laced with Psilocybin mushrooms—which are hallucinogenic—in Mahopac and Carmel. Stam sold the candy to police twice during the investigation.  

Putman Valley Man is Ex-Husband of Accused Madame

The accused high-end madame making headlines in New York City has a tie to Putnam County, reports LoHud.com. Dario Gristina, of Putnam Valley, is running for state Assembly and now finds himself facing questions about his year-and-a-half-long marriage. The former couple have a 17-year-old son. Gristina is not talking, but LoHud.com reports he claims to know nothing about his former wife's alleged double life as a madame.  

Orangetown police report Nyack's own Golden Gloves boxing champion, Max Tassy, is accused of slapping away the hands and arms of a police officer as he was attempting to arrest Tassy for his involvment in an altercation. The officer sustained an injury to his right arm and was treated at Nyack Hospital.

The Board of Education believes its primaryRead More responsibility should focus on creating an educational environment that will help our students become knowledgeable individuals, problem-solvers, quality producers, effective communicators, wholesome individuals, collaborative workers, ethical individuals, life-long learners, and responsible, accepting and involved citizens. We remain committed to providing a high quality, well-balanced educational program that supports our faculty and staff and helps our students meet and exceed State standards as well as high district goals. It says nothing about protecting the investments of taxpayers by voting "no" on every expenditure. We need forward thinking, broad minded individuals to help guide educational direction of our schools. Keeping expenses reasonable and and in check should be a consideration by the educational focus should be primary. Although novices, Trustees Tobin and Schiff have helped true the course of the board back to the direction of education. Mr Stone who himself admitted he had never even been to a BOE meeting before deciding to run offers no sense of motivation other than Dr Treyz and his friends think he'll help shift the direction back toward finance. Mr Holbrook is no different a candidate than Mr Lipton himself was 6 years ago.
