NYC Man Stopped for Speeding Found Wearing Body Armor, Carrying Illegal Handgun

State Police said a New York City man stopped for speeding on Interstate 684 was found to be carrying an illegal handgun and wearing body armor. The registration on the Mercedes he was driving was found to be suspended. The owner of the car was in the vehicle but not arrested.

White Plains Man Caught Carrying 44 Ounces of Heroin

A White Plains man stopped for a traffic violation on the Taconic State Parkway was found with 44 ounces of heroin, according to State Police. The man was also intoxicated.

Queens Man Hatched $3M Extortion Plot, Home Invasion

A Queens man is accused of attacking and harming a Bedford couple and threatening to harm their children if the couple did not wire $3 million to an account in the Netherlands during a home invasion last May, according to investigators. The man is also accused of a home invasion in Connecticut. 

Man Pleads Guilty to Taking Pictures Under Women's Skirts

Jose Piedra, 48, of Sleepy Hollow, pleaded guilty to taking pictures under women's skirts at a White Plains Target store. Piedra used his cellphone to obtain the images, called "upskirting." 

Homeless Man Threatens Friends on Facebook

A homeless Dobbs Ferry man is accused of posting threats against his friends on Facebook. According to one friend, the man wrote: “thought it might be fun to put my friends names into a hat and pick one out and kill that person,” and “thinking about killing everybody.” Police located the man and determined he was homeless and had no weapons or resources. 

Stolen Shot Glass Gets Man in Big Trouble

An Eastchester man who was approached by police for stealing a shot glass was found to have two active warrants out for his arrest. 

$6M Ponzi Scheme

Alan Ritter, of Monsey, pleaded guilty to an 11-year-long, $6 million Ponzi scheme. After suffering a half-a-million dollar loss on a business venture, Ritter asked friends, family and clients for money to invest in supposed real estate ventures. He faces 20 years in prison.
