Westchester Fire, Police Marine Units Undergo Coast Guard Training [VIDEO]

More than 30 emergency responders take a U.S. Coast Guard-led search and rescue training Saturday morning.

With the always-looming possibility of someone jumping from the Tappan Zee and Bear Mountain Bridges and recreational sail boats going astray throughout the Hudson River, the U.S. Coast Guard relies regularly on backup from local police and fire departments' marine units.

On Saturday morning, the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services sponsored a training for more than 30 local emergency responders to learn skills from members of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Among the departments represented were: the Irvington Fire Department, The Tarrytown Fire Department, The Hastings Fire Department, Mt. Pleasant Police, The Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, the Verplank Fire Department, the South Salem Fire Department, The Bedford Fire Department, the Montrose Fire Department, and others.

Watch the video above to learn more about the training.

It says nothing about protecting the investments of taxpayers by voting "no" on every expenditure. We need forward thinking, broad minded individuals to help guide educational direction of our schools. Keeping expenses reasonable and and in check should be a consideration by the educational focus should be primary. Although novices, Trustees Tobin and Schiff have helped true the course of the board back to the direction of education. Mr Stone who himself admitted he had never even been to a BOE meeting before deciding to run offers no sense of motivation other than Dr Treyz and his friends think he'll help shift the direction back toward finance. Mr Holbrook is no different a candidate than Mr Lipton himself was 6 years ago.
