Town Board to Vote on Bids for Park Work

At its meeting tonight, the Bedford Town Board is set to take votes on authorizing the bidding process for equipment work at two parks.

One vote involves allowing the process for a proposed overhaul of Bedford Village Memorial Park's playground, which includes trying to get bids for play structures 2-5 year olds, 5-12 year olds, benches and swings, Superintendent of Recreation and Parks Bill Heidepriem wrote in a June 26 memo to the board. The work will be paid for through a mix of town funding through a capital fund budget and a a pledged donation from the Bedford Village Chowder & Marching Club, according to Heidepriem.

The other vote involves initiating the bidding process to replace an old picnic pavilion at Bedford Hills Memorial Park. In a June 25 memo to the board, Heidepriem estimates that the pavilion will cost $30,000 to $50,000. The structure is more than 30 years old, he wrote, and has deteriorated. Heidepriem added that if the board gives approval, then he anticipates a bid award in early August, delivery for October and finishing the project by December. The work would be paid for through a capital fund budget for a district that covers the park, Heidepriem wrote.
