Pound Ridge Democratic Candidates Brought Luck to the Table at "Casino Night"

(Pound Ridge, NY – September 20 2013) – Stakes were high as Pound Ridgers gathered round the tables to place their bets on the Pound Ridge Democratic and Independence party candidates, Ali Boak (for Town Supervisor), Dan Paschkes (for Town Board), Sherene De Palma (for Town Board) and Ira Clair (for Town Justice). “Casino Night” was hosted Liz and Rob Ades as a fundraiser for the upcoming election on Tuesday, November 5.

An “Everything Pound Ridge” raffle prize included a gift certificate to Plum Plums Cheese Shop, granola from Healing Home Foods (both on Westchester Avenue); copies of  POUND RIDGE PAST: Remembrances of Our Townsfolk by Bonni Brodnick, and Images of America: Pound Ridge, by Richard Major and Vince Manna; a country basket and a handmade “Pound Ridge” pillow from KD Studio in Katonah.

“Many thanks to everyone here tonight, including those from other political affiliations,” Boak said. “Your attendance represents your love for our town and our joined sense of community.”

“We love Pound Ridge,” she continued. “We love the nature, the schools, raising our children here, the open space, the trees and the people. But we need to take a look at things that aren’t being done for far too long.

“Why doesn’t Scotts Corners reflect the beauty and vitality of our town? Why are there ongoing—year after year—unresolved problems with infrastructure issues, as well as unkempt and empty storefronts? Why don’t these ever change?”

“It’s time to use our tax dollars with responsibility,” Boak said. “It’s time to take our citizens’ concerns seriously, value their input, and conduct our local governance with transparency.

Boak thanked neighbors for showing their support to the Democratic slate and for helping her and the other candidates—Dan Paschkes for Town Board, Sherene De Palma for Town Board and Ira Clair for Town Justice—for getting out their message to “protect and preserve what we love about Pound Ridge, and doing what we need to do to make things better.”
