LBA: Pirates Come From Behind to Seal The AA Championship

Game report: AA Division Championship Pirates vs. Nationals

Pirates vs. Nationals, Thursday June 23rd, 2011, Lewisboro Town Park

The Nationals held the Pirates scoreless for the first three innings as they brought home four runs. Nationals pitcher Brett Paulson struck out six to start the game. The Pirates battled back to tie the game with 4 runs in the 4th with clutch hits by Chris Walsh and Ethan Falconer who each had 2 RBI hits in the inning.  

The pitchers, Charlie Murphy for the Pirates, and Jack Capobianco for the Nationals, kept it scoreless forthe next inning. Tied going into the 6th, Charlie Murphy hit what proved to be the winning hit, a 2 out, 3 RBI double, clearing the loaded bases. The Nationals settled down and got the final out and worked on getting runners on base and across the plate.

Kyle Hafter came up with one out and two on base in the bottom of the sixth and drove them both in with a monster double to right center making the score 6-7. Pirates closer Mike Giardina stepped up and struck out the last two batters with the tying run on second base to seal the Championship.
