Registration Opens For "Run The Farm" Kids and Adult Trail Races at Muscoot Farm

Run The Farm trail race and kids races will be held on October 23rd, 2011 at Muscoot Farm County Park. Registration opened for all races July 25th.

The second annual "" 5 mile trail race and kids races will be held at Muscoot Farm County Park on October 23rd, 2011 starting at 8:30am.  Registration opened for all races July 25th.

There are several events planned for the day. The day opens with "Kids Run The Farm" races for kids 3-6 and 7-12 years old.  At 8:30am the kids aged 7-12 compete over a 1.1 mile trail course. At 8:35am the 3-6 year old kids run a shorter 0.6 mile course. Parental escorts are encouraged for the second group!

The trail will be well marked -- with volunteers set up to guide the kids onto the correct trails.

The races will end with volunteers handing out medals to all kid finishers and they will receive $2 in "Farm Bucks" to spend at the Muscoot Farmer's Market that day which will feature locally produced foods and drinks. 

At 9:15am, the 5 mile trail race will begin near the blacksmith shop and end near the duck enclosure. Runners finishing the 5 mile race will be given $5 in "Farm Bucks" for use that day at the Farmer's market.

After the races end there will be music, awards, and of course the Muscoot Farmer's Market from 10am - 3pm.

The race is put on to show off the beauty of Muscoot Farm park, its extensive trail system, and to increase awareness of the weekly Muscoot Farmer's market (Sundays from May-October) and other local farmer's markets in the area.
