4 Running for Katonah-Lewisboro School Board (So Far)

The deadline for nominations is extended to May 7.

So far, Rory Burke, Carmen Delessio, Scott Posner and William Rifkin have filed petitions to run for two seats on the Board of Education, District Clerk Kimberly Monzon announced April 22.

The trustee election and school budget vote is May 20.

Two seats are being vacated by school board President Charles Day and Trustee Janet Harckham.

Candidates are elected at-large, serve 3-year terms and are unpaid.

Because a fifth resident filed a nominating petition and then withdrew it, state law requires the district to reopen the nominating period. New nominating petitions must be filed in the Office of the District Clerk by 5 p.m. May 7.

Three of the four have been active at BOE meetings, according to coverage in the Lewisboro Ledger.

Burke called for the district to move ahead after the Lewisboro Elementary School closing decision. Delessio questioned the district's finances at a recent meeting. Posner called for balance between budget-cutting and education.
