Bedford Central's 2013-14 Budget Easily Passes

Voters in the Bedford Central School District overwhelmingly approved its proposed 2013-14 budget.

The results show that 1,568 voted yes while just 621 voted no.

The budget is $125,057,000 and includes a spending increase of 1.92 percent. The tax levy, which is the amount of property tax revenue to be collected, will increase by 3.37, which is within the state-mandated cap. The tax rates, which represent what taxpayers owe per $1,000 of assessed property value, are estimated to rise by 4.56 percent for Bedford, 0.68 percent for Mount Kisco, 2.30 percent for New Castle, 3.07 percent for Pound Ridge and 5.51 percent for North Castle.

Three school board seats were up for votes, all of which were uncontested. The people running were incumbents Jennifer Gerken and Suzanne Grant, along with Michael Solomon. Gerken received 1,362 votes, Grant got 1,359 and Solomon got 1,250.
