Lots Opted Out of Common Core Testing Today

That included the children of Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.

Rob and Sheila Astorino are among the many parents who had their children opt out of the New York state's English Language Arts test today as a protest against the implementation of the Common Core standards.

"We feel very strongly that our kids shouldn't be guinea pigs in a lab test," Astorino said on Fox News.

His announcement was greeted with cheers by folks on the I Refuse Facebook page.

"Good for him! Good for his family!" wrote Lara Flejter.

You can see his full explanation in a vimeo he posted on his gubernatorial campaign website.
