Man Faces Fugitive from Justice Charge

Greenwich Police charge suspect wanted for a burglary that took place on Adams Street in Bedford Hills.

Greenwich Police have arrested a Norwalk man on a fugitive from justice charge stemming from a burglary case in Bedford.

According to Greenwich Police report, they received information that Kevin C. Childs, 46, of 577 Belden Hill Rd., Norwalk, would be at the state Superior Court in Stamford with a friend who had an appointment with a probation officer on Aug. 29.

When Childs showed up, state court marshals told Childs there was a warrant for his arrest charging him as a fugitive from justice. That charge stems from Bedford Police obtaining an arrest warrant charging Childs with third-degree burglary, according to the report.

According to Det. Sgt. Thomas Diebold, Childs allegedly forcefully entered an Adams Street commercial building on Aug. 6 at approximately 9:20 p.m. and stole 8 chainsaws valued at $8,000 and caused an additional $500 damage to a door.

He will be charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny, both Class D felonies, and third-degree criminal mischief, a Class E felony.
