Bedford School Board Has Timeline for Filling Goldstein's Seat

Bedford Central's school board hopes to replace departing colleague Lee Goldstein by around Sept. 25, the district announced this week.

Prospective candidates are asked to fill out an application, which is due by Sept. 13. The board will then hold public interviews of the candidates during a special meeting on Sept. 17, which will be broadcast on BCSD-TV. Members of the public can submit their questions to boe@bcsdny.org by Sept. 13. People can also send question to the same email address between Sept. 18 to Sept. 23, the last ones before the board makes its selection.

The person chosen to replace Goldstein, who is resigning from the board because she is moving out the district, will serve until May 20, 2014, when a special election will be held. Goldstein, who was elected in May 2012, has a seat that will not be included in a regular election until May 2015.

People can download board applications from the district's website.
