Orienteering Challenge

On September 23rd, Westmoreland Sanctuary and Hudson Valley Orienteering (HVO) will be hosting a local event in celebration of National Orienteering Day.  Orienteering USA clubs throughout the country will be hosting special newcomer events.  These events are aimed at introducing orienteering to the public.

September 23rd’s Orienteering Challenge will take place at Westmoreland Sanctuary from 10am to 3pm.  There will be a range of beginner to advanced courses, along with free instruction sessions at 10am and 11am.  Pre-registration is open now until September 21.  Pre-registered participants receive a $5 discount on their registration fee.  Walk-ins are welcome from 10am-Noon on the day of the event.

Orienteering is a race in wilderness navigation where a person uses a map and a compass to complete a course.  This is an easy sport to learn, a great team-building activity, and ideal for families who enjoy the outdoors.  Call upon your ability, choose your own route, and be part of one of the most exciting and versatile sports available.
