A national equestrian competition, which is expected to draw thousands of visitors to the area and bring millions of dollars of revenue to the local economy, is returning to North Salem this year.
The American Gold Cup, which will be broadcast by NBC, will take place at the Old Salem Farm in North Salem from Sept. 11 to Sept. 15. The iconic equestrian events will feature Olympic Gold Medalist McLain Ward of Brewster.
"The event will attract 10,000 riders and spectators to Westchester County, adding more than an estimated $6 million to the local economy," County Executive Robert P. Astorino said in a statement. "NBC will broadcast the event to more than 80 million homes, highlighting Westchester and Old Salem Farm as premier destinations."
The ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and Just World International have been selected as charitable partners of the American Gold Cup.
The prize for the American Gold Cup winner is $200,000.
