Saw Mill Club Partners With Local Mom to Launch Kid's Running Club

Westchester mom Carrie Martabano is encouraging fun and fitness by partnering with Saw Mill Club to start a running club for kids..

"I'm trying to encourage a healthy lifestyle and encourage kids to keep active  without having to spend the money on a team sport," Martabano said.

She started the kids running club with the support of Saw Mill Club as a nonprofit "Kids on the Run" program in order to make it affordable. Many school sports and town sports clubs charge fees and not everyone can participate because of it.

The goal of the club is to train the kids to complete Mt. Kisco's first 5k on September 21, 2014. The club offers scholarships for kids in need.

"The beauty of running is that there's no equipment necessary and it can be done anywhere," Martabano said.

The running club trains twice per week and welcomes new members. For more information call 914-906-7584.
