Enrollment at Record Level as Harvey Gears Up for Open House

Katonah- The Harvey School holds its annual fall Admissions Open House Saturday, October 26 amidst great excitement this academic year. Harvey is enjoying its highest student enrollment in the independent school’s 98-year history, and the 2013-14 school year marks the first time the Katonah campus has welcomed a group of students from abroad as part of Harvey’s new International School Program.

Located on a beautiful, 125-acre hilltop campus on Route 22 in Katonah, Harvey is a coed college preparatory school for students in grades 6-12. With close to 360 students currently enrolled, Harvey maintains an average class size of ten students. Admissions Director William Porter says, “The small class size allows Harvey faculty to help their students achieve excellence both inside and outside the classroom.”

Known also for its five-day boarding option, Harvey offers a rigorous and exciting curriculum with a wide array of extra-curricular activities in the performing arts, interscholastic sports, and community service.  In a fully-accredited independent school, Harvey teachers design their own curriculum and present their lessons in creative and challenging ways. Porter says, “Harvey faculty give students the time and attention they need to master their individual skills, and develop their strengths.” He also noted that students in Harvey’s AP classes achieve at the highest levels, and all of the school’s graduates go on to college.

The open house Saturday begins at 9:00 AM as the admissions director will welcome visitors and present a brief overview of the school’s mission and its unique qualities. The heads of both the Middle and Upper Schools will be available to answer questions specific to the programs offered in each school.  Also on hand will be faculty members, along with current parents and students. Visitors will tour the campus to view the facilities, including the new 22,000 square-foot athletic center and the magnificent Walker Center for the Arts.
