Harvey Boys Defeat Masters in Hoops

Harvey put itself back into the win column Monday by defeating Masters, N.Y. 58-53. Freshman Evan Roteman of Chappaqua kept his team in the game with a hot hand, leading all scorers with 24 points. Harvey was playing without its top rebounder, DeShawn Hilliard, who was out sick. Jake Berkson stepped up big, grabbing 10 rebounds.

Despite leading from the start, the Cavaliers were sluggish throughout most of the game. “We were not executing our offensive plays and were playing lackadaisical defense,” said Coach Dom Narcisco. But the offensive contributions were spread out as nine Cavaliers put up points. It was a good thing since the team’s leading scorer for the season, Ricky Hicks, was held scoreless. Elijah Jackson was the high scorer for Masters with 17 points.

Harvey, now 5-7, travels Wednesday to face a tough Watkinson team in a league matchup.
