Donald R. Kellogg Memorial Scholarships Awarded to 'Quiet Doers'

Nicholas Andersen, Ben Barone, John Mason, and Annemarie Prinsloo are this year's recipients.

Nicholas Andersen, Ben Barone, John Mason, and Annemarie Prinsloo are the 2012 recipients of the Donald R. Kellogg Memorial Scholarship awarded on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the .  The scholarship is awarded each year in memory of Donald R. Kellogg to honor selfless service and commitment to our community.
 
Nick Andersen's worthy contributions are many, including his participation in making homes warmer, safer and dryer through the Appalachian Service Project and his building an exercise area for dogs at the SPCA as his Eagle Scout project.  Nick will start his masters in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Kentucky.  
 
Ben Barone's dedication to community service is apparent with his participation in over 250 events for the being a volunteer tutor and assisting in organizing charity events to benefit the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome organization. Ben will attend Binghamton University Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science. 
 
John Mason has been very active in the missions of his church, , including activities to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina, an AIDS camp and water purifiers for people in the Dominican Republic as well as volunteering to tutor ESL students through l's Reach Out John Jay program.  John will pursue Liberal Arts at Vassar College. 
 
Annemarie Prinsloo has been a role model as she volunteers and works with teens new to volunteer service every Saturday morning at the   She also works with mentally disabled children and will continue in this area as she furthers her education in the field of Special Education at Westchester Community College.
