Fox Lane Courtyard Groundbreaking; PRES Science Workshop

1. The Bedford Central School District's Foundation for Arts, Music and Education (FAME) announced it will hold a groundbreaking on Thursday for a new courtyard space at Fox Lane High School. It will utilize an existing but unused courtyard in the building and will be overhauled to include performance space for theater and concerts, classroom space, a sensory garden and a sculpture/art gallery. The groundbreaking itself will be at the high school at 4 p.m. The project is called the FAME Courtyard for Arts and Sciences.

2. Pound Ridge Elementary School (PRES) third graders will have a science workshop called "Magnet Makers," which will be a chance to explore magnetism, according to an announcement. The event will be on Tuesday morning and afternoon with three sessions of 90 minutes. It is supported by the PRES PTA and the Arts & Science Enrichment Committee.

3. The Bedford Free Library announced that it will have author Karen Engelmann as a guest. She is the author of "The Stockholm Octavo" and will appear on Thursday at 7 p.m.

4. Bedford Central's school board meets on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Fox Lane Middle School. Agenda items will include presentations on athletics, transportation and the district's external audit. Additionally, the board will discuss the next steps after voters recently approved its roughly $31.8 million bond vote, including a construction committee and a formal bond resolution. 5. The Katonah Village Library announced that it is hosting a discussion on myth and reality for college admissions. It will be on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
