Carmel's Knox Sisters Play Free Festival, "Ploughboy Nation 2," in Danbury Saturday

The Knox Sisters take the Ives Center Stage this Saturday, June 28th at Ploughboy Nation 2, a free rock festival presented by The Mighty Ploughboys and Danbury's Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Teen sisters Hailey, 15, and Samantha, 13, are ready to play with the big boys and will get the chance to do just that this Saturday at Ploughboy Nation 2, a free all-day concert at the Ives Center in Danbury.

Their musical career began when Hailey, the lead singer, started singing as a toddler. By age 8 she was playing the guitar. Along with her sister Samantha, who plays percussion, the Carmel duo began their musical journey playing out at the ages of just 10 and 12-years-old. Mom and manager Jamie Knox describes their sound as "kind of a rock, indie, blues sound."

The girls said, "Our father is a huge inspiration. He is our teacher and an amazing guitarist."

The Knox Sisters join Danbury's Mighty Ploughboys (TMP) Saturday for the second annual "Ploughboy Nation." TMP is presenting this free rock concert at the Ives Center in cooperation with Danbury's Ancient Order of Hibernians. The five-piece local band from the Danbury/New Fairfield area are celebrating their second self-titled CD release. Their sound blends a classic rock style with traditional Irish music.

The free concert will feature live music, a beer tent, food and desserts, provided by the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians of Danbury.

Slated to perform along with The Knox Sisters are Colleen and the Boys, Gilleoghan Irish Dancers, Celtic Cross Pipe & Drum Band, The Alehounds, The Traveling Danburys and of course the headliners, The Mighty Ploughboys.
