Prepare to be enchanted, surprised and maybe a little bit spooked! At the Enchanted Forest Festival On October 18th (6-9 pm) and 19th (1-4 pm) at Westmoreland Sanctuary visitors will be guided through a giant turtle, beside a troll's house and past a variety of magical and enchanted forest creatures, most made from natural materials or utilizing the natural landscape. Also on hand will be a variety of autumn games, storytelling, a marshmallow roast and of course an opportunity to meet and greet our ‘spookiest’ animals, such as Hobbes the King Snake and Rosie the Tarantula.
Friday night we will open our ‘spooky’ trail and cemetery for the older, braver visitors (recommended age 8 and up, accompanied by an adult), who will encounter various dark and enchanted creatures, hear stories about the haunted woods, and celebrate the night with a marshmallow roast. Saturday afternoon magical forest creatures will be on hand to guide visitors along the trail, followed by food, games and a live animal show. Displays were created by local artists, scout groups, businesses and organizations. Visitors will have a chance to vote on their favorite displays, the winners to receive a prize.
Admission to the Festival is a $10 donation per visitor with all proceeds support the education and conservation programs of Westmoreland Sanctuary, which serves over 15,000 students and members of the public annually. Westmoreland Sanctuary is located at 260 Chestnut Ridge Road, Mount Kisco, NY. For further information please visit our website or call: 914-666-8448.
