As a vegan I was thrilled to learn that Andy's Pure Food was opening in Mt. Kisco in the space nestled between Churchill's and Starbucks that used to be occupied by Connie's.
While places like Myong's, Armonk Country Kitchen, and even some bagel places offer some tasty options, it is hard to find vegan fare in Westchester that stems beyond make-your-own salad.
This all-vegan and mostly raw establishment holds a lot of promise, especially after hearing rave reviews from Andy's patrons in other Westchester communities.
The space is not fancy. It is a spot to grab a quick bite for lunch, take something to go, or from which you can choose for delivery. Especially if you're looking for a juice cleanse.
Priced at $150 for 3 days, and $350 for 7, the rates are really competitive, the flavors are spot on, and it gets delivered right to your door the night before. For the 3 day (which I am enjoying as I type) you start your morning off by sipping coconut water from a freshly peeled coconut packed right into your cooler bag. From there you enjoy 6 freshly made drinks (each labeled with the time during which you should enjoy them) from an all greens blend to an electrolyte lemonade, ending with a nut milk in the evening. If you are leery about just drinking your calories, they have an option that includes a soup and salad.
Regardless of what your dietary restrictions are (or not) there is something here for everyone. Smoothies, soups, veggies burgers, wild rice—even raw vegan truffles, gluten-free chips and baked goods. When picking from the salad bar, I loved the raw bean sprouts and sea vegetables, tofu with peppers, parsley and onion, the avocado and tomato salad, hearts of palm and the brussel sprouts (no, I did not eat them all in one sitting!)
My husband, a meat eater at heart, also enjoyed the avocado salad and sampled the coconut smoothie and cucumber and tomato salad as well, but the pureed sweet potato was, hands down, his favorite dish.
