When Hi-Ho Nursery School—which previously occupied the school’s space—closed its doors, Rev. Terence Elsberry, Rector of St. Matthew’s Church, saw it as an opportunity to have students be a part of the church family. Their mission is to give students a developmentally appropriate education that includes social, intellectual, spiritual and physical aspects of learning.

The school offers a chapel component, in which students sing songs and hear stories as part of a weekly “God’s Garden” program. And with 62 acres of church property—including nature trails and an outdoor chapel—nature plays a role in the curriculum.
