The Bedford Historical Hall is located at the edge of the Village Green at the base of Bates Hill. One of sevenMore buildings preserved and protected by the Bedford Historical Society, the Hall was was formerly the old Methodist Church before it was purchased by the Bedford Historical Society in 1916. It is used for private parties, meetings and exhibitions.

About: The Bedford Historical Society is a privately funded, membership-based nonprofit dedicated toMore preserving Bedford's historic sites. It is housed in the newly restored Bedford Store building.</p> <p>Founded in 1916, it took charge of several buildings around the Bedford Village Green that were far older than itself, including: the 1807 Bedford Free Library, formerly the Bedford Academy; the 1829 Stone Jug schoolhouse; the 1838 post office; the 1838 general store; the 1857 Jackson House; the 1906 Lounsbery Building, once the village A&P; and the 1787 courthouse.</p> <p>It also protects the two acres surrounding a town landmark — the Bedford Oak — and runs two museums, one in the schoolhouse and the other in the courthouse, both of which are in the Village Green.</p> <p>The society sponsors a variety of educational tours, programs and exhibitions that celebrate Bedford's historical treasures. </p> <p><b>Contact:</b> Evelyne Ryan is the society's executive director.
