Hi Scott, thank for writing. It is prominent on Patch today because she was well-known but also local to the Bedford community—she had many friends and colleagues here. We often feature obituaries of community members prominently to let folks know they've passed and to honor their memory.

ReplyMary Kennedy was also involved in the Food Allergy Initiative, a New York City-based organization dedicated to food allergy research. Co-founder Sharyn Mann said Kennedy's death was "a great loss to FAI and the food allergy community." She also said Mary was "a loving mother who was committed to finding a cure for her son, and for all children who suffer from food allergies." Kennedy served as a past dinner chair for the group's Food Allergy Ball. "When we needed help, she rolled up her sleeves and was there for us. We will always remember her for her intelligence, elegance, and gentle ways, and we offer our heartfelt condolences to the family," Mann said.

Hey Chris, as I've corrected in the story - it wasn't a DOH crackdown. It was a clarification of a pre-existing policy and some restaurants were not aware until recently their capacity included the outdoor seating. It's led to some creative thinking, that's for sure. Another owner of a local restaurant said it's not typical to have every indoor seat taken at the same time his outdoor patio is full. Some businesses may consider sectioning off indoor seats in order to ensure they don't go over on the nice nights ahead.
