Bedford Democrats Endorse Yablon for Town Board

Long-time Katonah resident Bruce Yablon has been endorsed by the Bedford Democratic Town Committee in the race for town board this November. He will run to fill the seat vacated when Chris Burdick was elected Supervisor in last year’s general election. “We are pleased to enthusiastically support Bruce Yablon as our nominee. He is an integral member of the Bedford community, has served on numerous volunteer and town committees and brings unique experience that is sorely needed on the town board,” said Bedford Democratic Chair Len Martello.

Currently the owner of his own construction company, Yablon has also worked in the corporate world with extensive human resources and management experience, including Northeast Business Manager of the Year at PepsiCo/Taco Bell. His academic background includes a BS in Business Administration from SUNY Albany.

Active in town and county government policy, Mr. Yablon serves on the Katonah-Bedford Hills Ambulance Corps, Blue Mountain Housing Development Corporation, the Hudson Valley Regional Council and played a major role in establishing the Bridge Strike Taskforce. The taskforce is widely known for the “LOW BRIDGE NO TRUCKS” program that has improved safety on the county highways, reducing bridge strikes by 50 percent.

Burdick’s Democratic seat is currently held by former town board member Peter Chryssos, who was appointed to fill the seat until the end of this year. Chryssos recently left the Republican Party to become an unaffiliated voter.

“Each Town Board member brings specific strengths to the table, and Bruce has a multitude of them,” according to Martello. “Most significantly, his in-depth knowledge of construction, the building trades and infrastructure, as well as his experience in managing large operations with hundreds of employees and millions in revenue would make him a valuable team member when discussing these issues at the town level. We have attorneys and financial folks currently serving on the town board, but Bruce brings hands-on experience that is directly translatable to the issues the board deals with daily. We need someone with Bruce’s unique qualifications representing Bedford.”
