Bedford Village Teen Desperately Seeks Kidney Match

A 15-year-old Bedford Village teen is seeking a kidney match and his family is trying to spread the word near and far.

Since October 2013, Michael Dellorso has been undergoing pediatric dialysis three times per week at Montefiore Children's Hospital. He is waiting for his perfect match and is on the waiting list for a kidney transplant.

Aside from the transplant list at the hospital, the family hopes by spreading the word on social media and online news and information sources, they might connect with a potential living donor.

His family describes Michael as a sweet young man who has triumphed over other medical conditions throughout his life. He keeps a smile on family and friends faces with his kindness, patience and wit. He is a typical teen with a love of music and the N.Y. Yankees.

The initial donor criteria is someone with O positive blood type, in good health and under the age of 60.

Anyone who is interested in learning more about being a potential donor should contact Jennifer Flood of Flood Sisters Kidney Foundation of America by emailing jennifer@floodsisters.org or by calling (646)715-8976.

Ms. Flood is working with Michael's case manager at Montefiore Children's Hospital to find a match. The Flood Sisters have had success in helping local residents connect for transplants through local & social media.

Michael's Community Facebook page is "A Match for Mikey."
