Here and There: Animation Workshops

Saturdays, October 20, November 17, December 8

10:00 am – 12:00 pm at KMA, 1:30 – 3:30 pm at JBFC
Day-long immersion workshops begin at the Katonah Museum where Blue Sky artists work with students to develop stories and characters. After lunch and a quick train ride, children bring their art to life at the Jacob Burns Film Center’s Media Arts Lab. By the end of the afternoon, each child will have created a short animated project. Prepaid reservations required. $63 KMA/ JBFC members, $70 non-members. (Participants must commit to the entire day. A KMA or JBFC staff person will accompany students on the train from Katonah to Pleasantville. Please bring lunch. ) The workshops include:

  • October 20 ( Grades 2 - 5)

Creature Creation
Design a unique character with Ice Age: Continental Drift art director Nash Dunnigan at the Katonah Museum, then animate your creation in a stop-action film short at the Media Arts Lab.

  • November 17 (Grades 9 - 12))

Making Moves

With pencil, paper, and the expertise of Blue Sky story artist Jim Kammerud, create a storyboard sequence at the Katonah Museum, and then bring the sequence to life at the Media Arts Lab.

  • December 8 (Grades 6 - 8)

Designing Worlds

Under the direction of Blue Sky set designer Jon Townley, design the details of a movie set at the Katonah Museum, then infuse the scene with light and life at the Media Arts Lab.

 

Prepaid reservations required. $63 KMA/ JBFC members, $70 non-members. (Participants must commit to the entire day. A KMA or JBFC staff person will accompany students on the train from Katonah to Pleasantville. Please bring lunch. )
