2013 Home Run Derby & All Star Weekend Wrap Up

The weather was hot and balls were flying over the fences. This past weekend's Home Run Derby and All Star Games were a hugh success. Many trophies were handed out, but we all went home with terrific memories.

 BHKLL newsletter – #4   June 6, 2013
What a weekend of excitement and great memories.
To those who volunteered their time at the grill and on the fields your efforts were much appreciated.  Of course it wouldn’t be a Little League event without the kids who entertained us with impressive batting skills, eager dunking abilities and all around enthusiasm. (Adults your batting skills weren’t bad either!) Many thanks go out to GPNY/Spins Bowl for donating the use of their dunk tank and Ernie Ruzza for his PA system. We could not have pulled this off without you.

The Home Run Derby was well received. The weather was hotter than expected, but nevertheless enjoyed by all.  It was a perfect day to dunk your coach. We hope you did so! Over 100 participants entered to swing for the fences. Hats off to all who had the courage to enter and congratulations to this year’s champions.

This year’s three All Star games showed off some of BHKLL’s finest talent.  It was great to see the stands full of cheering fans. As a result of the Home Run Derby and All Star Sunday, over $2,000 was raised in our fundraising efforts to Bring Back the Lights.   As the league continues to explore any and all grant and donation options, we are looking forward to our remaining spring fundraisers.
