Assemblyman Buchwald Announces NYS Library Grants

Assemblyman David Buchwald (D-Westchester) announced the distribution of New York State public library construction grants to help fund projects to improve the services provided by local public libraries.

“Our Westchester libraries offer access to a vast amount of resources for learning, job-training skills and fun leisure activities for the whole family,” Assemblyman Buchwald said. “I’ve been a lifelong advocate for public libraries and the good they do in our communities, and it is vital that they continue to receive the support they need to continue to provide excellent services.”

Assemblyman Buchwald helped increase public library funding by $4.2 million in this year’s state budget and recently teamed up with area schools to promote summer reading by issuing this year’s Assembly Summer Reading Challenge. Schools were provided materials to help encourage young students to continue reading throughout the summer in order to keep their reading skills sharp for the start of the next school year.
