Why go: Sean King, a 2010 John Jay graduate, will be performing with his summer a cappella group, the Coastal Vibes. The group has been living and singing down on the Jersey Shore hitting up spots such as the Ocean City Boardwalk, Atlantic City and Stone Harbor. The Coastal Vibes sing a plethora of songs that appeal to all age groups. The group is comprised of college students from Johns Hopkins University, Boston University, Penn State, and West Chester University. Bring a picnic and enjoy the music.
Pricing: Admission is free but donations are welcome.
Bold, Beautiful, Breathtaking Butterflies
When/Where: Saturday, August 11, 2 p.m. at
Why Go: From chrysalis to butterfly, come learn all about butterflies and what makes them fascinating and important to our world. Join a Nature Center naturalist for a visit amid the live butterflies in the flight house, for a tour through the life of a butterfly. Stay and make your own beautiful butterfly craft.
Price: Members $5, Non-Members $8 ($25 for family), recommended for children 8 and younger.
Festa Italiana Peekskill

Why Go: Check out Westchester's largest traditional Italian street festival that celebrates the Feast of the Assumption. The three-day “sagra” will include live Italian music, the American and Italian National anthems, dancing in the streets, a 50/50 raffle, street performers and, of course, lots of food and drink that will tickle your taste buds.

Renaissance Faire
When/Where: Saturdays and Sundays from August 4 through September 23 (including Labor Day), 10 a.m.-7 p.m. at Sterling Forest in Tuxedo Park, NY.
Why Go: It is the 35th anniversary of the annual fair that brings Elizabethan England to life with old-fashioned games, rides, arts, crafts, food, music, dance and performances.
Price: Tickets online are $20; $10 for age 5-12. At the gate, $22; $11 for age 5-12; free for ages 4 and under.
Showcase of Project Work and Showmanship Skills at Muscoot Farm
When/Where: Sunday, August 12, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at
Why Go: Westchester County 4-H Club members will be showcasing their project work and showmanship skills where a variety of projects will be on display. Members will be evaluated for showmanship in poultry, rabbits, dairy goats, cattle and sheep, as well as dog obedience and agility training. There will be a 4-H geocache hunt and be music, face painting, hay rides and the usual Sunday Muscoot Farmers' Market.

Stories from the Front

Why Go: The Westchester Military Museum at Westchester County’s Lasdon Park will feature speaker Al Zawiski, a Vietnam veteran residing in White Plains and current president of Vietnam Veterans of America #49.
He will be participating in “Stories from the Front”, a program sponsored by Chapter 49 of the VVA in conjunction with the County of Westchester. Mr. Zawiski will discuss a riveting account of the Battle of Red Warrior LZ” involving Company C, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regt. of the 4th Inf. Division in the Central Highland of the Republic of South Vietnam in the fall of November 1966.
This historic encounter chronicles a series of events that represent the valor of the Red Warrior’s against a much superior NVA enemy force. This courageous event prompted then President Lyndon Johnson to award this unit the Valorous Unit Citation for their actions as well as other individual citations to the gallant soldiers for their bravery against a hostile enemy force.

Rock 'N' Blues Fest

Why Go: Blues fans will love The Johnny Winter Band, The Edgar Winter Band, Rick Derringer, Leslie West of Mountain, and Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown will play rock and blues in White Plains this Sunday.
