     Bibliophiles can collect armloads of books at bargain prices during the Katonah Thrift Shop's annual book sale, now through March 2. Featured are adult and children's fiction and non-fiction on a variety of subjects, including art, do-it-yourself projects, cooking, gardening, crafts, health, history and travel, among others. Coffee table books are available as well as recent best sellers. For children, picture books and learning materials are offered. And there is a wide choice of CDs, DVDs and X-Box computer games.


     All items are priced from 50 cents to a few dollars.


     Thrift Shop hours are 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The shop is closed Thursdays and Sundays. For further information, call the shop at 232-3010.

Okay but let's focus on the charter of the BOE. The Board of Education believes its primaryRead More responsibility should focus on creating an educational environment that will help our students become knowledgeable individuals, problem-solvers, quality producers, effective communicators, wholesome individuals, collaborative workers, ethical individuals, life-long learners, and responsible, accepting and involved citizens. We remain committed to providing a high quality, well-balanced educational program that supports our faculty and staff and helps our students meet and exceed State standards as well as high district goals. It says nothing about protecting the investments of taxpayers by voting "no" on every expenditure. We need forward thinking, broad minded individuals to help guide educational direction of our schools. Keeping expenses reasonable and and in check should be a consideration by the educational focus should be primary. Although novices, Trustees Tobin and Schiff have helped true the course of the board back to the direction of education. Mr Stone who himself admitted he had never even been to a BOE meeting before deciding to run offers no sense of motivation other than Dr Treyz and his friends think he'll help shift the direction back toward finance. Mr Holbrook is no different a candidate than Mr Lipton himself was 6 years ago.
