Planetary Emergency! Potluck

Funding Available for Northern Westchester Projects
Ossining, NY (May 14, 2014) - Northern Westchester for a Better Tomorrow will be awarding funding to three projects designed to create a better tomorrow at its Planetary Emergency! Potluck event on June 7th, 2014 at the Katonah United Methodist Church Parish Hall. The organization is requesting project proposals from local organizations and individuals high school age or older.  The funds collected through ticket donations will be awarded to the three proposals with the most votes the night of the Potluck. The first place project could receive as much as $700.

In addition to the proposal competition, the potluck will celebrate and present the work of Northern Westchester organizations working on issues concerning climate change, fracking, the environment, democracy, social justice, food & agriculture, alternative economics, alternative education, and local communities.

“Giving away money collected from those attending our potluck empowers people to directly influence what happens in our community,” commented Northern Westchester for a Better Tomorrow founder, Paul Stark. “We’re looking forward to receiving a lot of proposals. As far we know, this funding mechanism hasn’t been used in Northern Westchester before.”

Instructions for proposals are available at the Northern Westchester for a Better Tomorrow website, nw4bt.org. Nobody loses! Those who submit proposals that aren’t awarded funding will be offered mentoring to assist with efforts to seek alternative funding. Details for those interested in volunteering to help organize, attend or donate to the Potluck are also available at nw4bt.org

The event is open to the public and will be held from 4:00 to 11:00 PM on Saturday June 7th, 2014 at the Katonah United Methodist Church Parish Hall, 44 Edgemont Rd, Katonah 10536. Suggested donation for tickets is $10.
