World Day of Prayer

The Women of Faith, an ecumenical
Bible Study group in Katonah, will be holding its annual World Day of Prayer
event on Saturday, March 8, at 10 am at the Katonah United Methodist
Church.  This year’s worship service
was developed by the Coptic Christian women of Egypt around the theme Streams
in the Desert, that explores the way faith can be life-sustaining even in the
face of scarcity and oppression.
In addition to joining for worship with other Christians around the
world, this annual service gives the people of northeastern Westchester an
opportunity to learn about the culture, history and faith traditions of other
Christians worldwide.  Last year,
the service was developed by the women of France who delved into the theme of
welcoming the stranger.  Previous
years’ services have been written by women in Papua New Guinea, Cameroon and Malaysia.
