Recent weird and unusual crime in the Hudson Valley. Reports do not indicate a conviction.

Bedford Police Searching for Man Who Exposed Himself

A woman walking on Reservoir Road in Katonah reported to police that a man exposed himself late Tuesday morning. The man reportedly drove past the woman twice before stepping out of the car and dropping his pants. Police said a similar incident of public lewdness occurred over the summer in the same area and all incidents are being investigated. 

Actor Stephen Baldwin Arrested for Failing to Pay Income Taxes

The Rockland County District Attorney and New York State Commissioner of Taxation and Finance Thomas H. Mattox reported that actor Stephen Baldwin was arrested on a charge of Repeated Failure to File Personal Income Tax Returns, a class “E” Felony. Baldwin is a resident of Upper Grandview in Rockland County and allegedly did not file New York State Personal Income Tax Returns for a three-year period. Including penalties and interests, the total amount due is more than $350,000.

Highway Robbery: $60K Worth of Batteries Stolen from Electronic Roadside Signs

According to Westchester County Police, nearly 300 batteries have been stolen from electronic roadside signs throughout the county by a Bronx resident. The batteries weigh between 55 and 96 pounds and are worth $60,000. The man made at least $20,000 selling them for scrap to recycling centers. 

[UPDATE] Pearl River Man Charged with DWI after Driving Through Police Roadblock

A Pearl River man was charged with drunk driving after driving through a police roadblock set up to block off the Share Christmas holiday event in downtown Pearl River. The man was stopped by two town Auxiliary Police officers who ran after the car and knocked on the window to get the driver's attention. The officers were able to open the door and remove the key, effectively stopping the car. 

Croton Police Arrest Man Wanted for Exploiting the Elderly in Missouri

Croton-on-Hudson police arrested a man who was wanted for exploiting the elderly in Missouri. Buchanan County, MO had a warrant out for the man and contacted Croton officials to check on the man's relatives who live in the town. At first Croton police told Missouri officials the man was not in town, but the man later called the Croton police from Florida and then came to Croton, where he was charged. 

A woman filed a false insurance claim on a diamond ring worth more than $7,000 and now has been charged with grand larceny. The Rockland County woman, 35, filed the claim with her mother's insurance company. 

Brewster Cops Use Taser on Disorderly Man

Brewster police found a Southeast man jiggling the doorknob of a residence and questioned the man in a police car when the man, who appeared intoxicated, was shouting and attempted to kick his way out of the car. Police used a Taser on the man.

Okay but let's focus on the charter of the BOE. The Board of Education believes its primaryRead More responsibility should focus on creating an educational environment that will help our students become knowledgeable individuals, problem-solvers, quality producers, effective communicators, wholesome individuals, collaborative workers, ethical individuals, life-long learners, and responsible, accepting and involved citizens. We remain committed to providing a high quality, well-balanced educational program that supports our faculty and staff and helps our students meet and exceed State standards as well as high district goals. It says nothing about protecting the investments of taxpayers by voting "no" on every expenditure. We need forward thinking, broad minded individuals to help guide educational direction of our schools. Keeping expenses reasonable and and in check should be a consideration by the educational focus should be primary. Although novices, Trustees Tobin and Schiff have helped true the course of the board back to the direction of education. Mr Stone who himself admitted he had never even been to a BOE meeting before deciding to run offers no sense of motivation other than Dr Treyz and his friends think he'll help shift the direction back toward finance. Mr Holbrook is no different a candidate than Mr Lipton himself was 6 years ago.
